Samuel Beckett Bridge

The Samuel Beckett Bridge which crosses the River Liffey in Dublin was designed by Santiago Calatrava and officially opened in 2009 by the then Mayor of Dublin, Emer Costello, whom I went to school with many years ago.
When I bought my D7000 I got a voucher for a free Nikon training course. I thought I might as well go as I am not very diligent at reading manuels. Unfortunately most of the others there had purchased entry level cameras and were pretty much complete beginners so I didn't pick up many tips. Still, I enjoyed my trip to Dublin and my first wander around the city's IFSC developed at the height of the Celtic Tiger. Today it was almost deserted with lots of empty units in the up market shopping centre which forms part of the docklands development.
Now that I'm up to date with my PAD, I'll try to catch up with everyone over the weekend. But first I have to find out if Jedward have brought home Eurovision honours for Ireland.....

Great view of the bridge, at least Jedward did a bit better than Blue.

What a beautiful bridge! Most unusual architecture!

What an interesting design...it kind of reminds me of a bow and arrow. V

I love the light, airy structure of the bridge. Nicely composed too.

Very industrial-looking riverfront, which the colors really emphasize. Somehow the bridge fits right in.

Very interesting shot, Mairead. Technically excellent. V

that's a lovely bridge, and resembles a harp...perhaps Calatrava is an admirer of Turlough Carolan...the Liffey looks breezy for your visit..

Remember class, you take the lens cap *off* before pressing the button on the top. Could be that the IFSC is just waiting for Godot, but I expect that in due course people will start reappearing. Perhaps not for financial services as such, but it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the commercial buildings are eventually redeveloped as residential. Redeveloped docklands as this one seems to be have an attraction and what was once run down and industrial can end up with stratospheric real estate prices.

A lovely shot Mairead, I'm listening to the voting as I write this.
Not looking good at the moment.
