I'm sorry I didn't stop to listen for the mournful sound of the fog horn when I
got home from work last night, after driving through the fog.
Living near the coast, the fog horn was one of those sounds which was
part of the sound track of life, sometimes you noticed it, sometimes
you didn't.
Now, Irish Lights are switching off the remaining fog horns on
light houses off the Irish coast, including the one in Dundalk
Bay.
So its lonesome sound is consigned to history.
