Leftovers

Boxing Day, or St Stephen's Day as we call it in Ireland, is a day for leftovers, a second
feast of turkey and ham. So this is a leftover from yesterday's walk. Weeks of sub-zero
temperatures resulted in ice forming along the seashore, driving the seagulls inland
in search of food - I saw some helping themselves to food left out on a neighbour's
bird table.
Today the thaw started and now it's raining. I had forgotten how much I hate dreary
wet Irish weather.

I have to keep reminding myself of how different the sunrise/set times in Ireland are. I was surprised (again) when I saw the time stamp before recalling that. This one does get the cold / crisp / lengthening shadows feel very well.

What a beautiful POV Mairead!! With a little bit 'o luck, you might see more snow before the winter is over.... :)

A very pleasing, quiet scene, perfect for a holiday afternoon.

It may be a 'left-over' but it's still a lovely photo - the misty horizon and the slight blue in the sky really give it that cold feel...we're thawing out as well, although we've no rain yet. But hey! the nights are getting longer :o))

Simply beautiful seascape here. I just love the brown patches of grass and layers of snow. I'm so glad you had a nice day for a walk!

Lovely image Mairead.. beautifully composed. V
I'm hoping for a thaw soon, our pavements are barely walkable with impacted ice. Really had enough of the cold and snow now.

Beautiful image Mairead...I too hate the dreary rainy days and even though its much colder I prefer the snow as it lightens the long dark days...A little lighter each day now although we have no sign of a thaw...It snowed so much on Christmas Day that down the side of the house its shoulder deep...maybe the thaw will begin around March...if we are lucky...lol!...BV
