10-OCT-2010

I had planned to take Fudge to the beach at Shellinghill to get a nice
watery shot for the weekend challenge Reflections.
But I didn't think that I would have so much to reflect on and to give
thanks for such a beautiful sunset.
Just a short while earlier my husband and son took Fudge for a walk
up the narrow country road where we live, while I did some photo
processing.
My son arrived home, out of breath, with a message that
I was to phone the emergency services as a car had failed to negotiate
a sharp bend and crashed down a steep embankment to the stony shore
below. After dialing 999 and calling for an ambulance, I drove up to see
what had happened, fully expecting the worse. Miraculously the two
people in the car had escaped without serious injury and declined the
offer to be taken to hospital.
My husband told me that the car had sped past them with just inches
to spare before carrying straight ahead over the bridge without
turning. He saw it go over the drop leading to the shore, where it
landed on its roof.

A case of reckless behavior...how often it happens. Hopefully the occupants will long remember how lucky they were to walk away!!

Gorgeous shot of Fudge in that beautiful golden light. It's chilling to think that the night's events could have had a much worse outcome, especially with your husband and son sharing the road with that reckless driver! I'm glad all turned out okay. ~V~

A superb shot with wonderful warmth and the solitary figure of Fudge for interest. BV
Alan K10-Oct-2010 21:44
Nice, strong composition with the mixture of the horizontal horizon and the more vertical shaft of sunlight / waterline. The colour sets the mood and time, and of course Fudge and his watery reflection completes the picture.
Guest 10-Oct-2010 21:43
I agree. V.
