I'd forgotten all about this old album of postcards
until I went looking for something completely
different yesterday.
It contains a collection of postcards sent mainly to
my grandmother and mother in the first half of the
20th century. There are cards from various places in Ireland,
from England, France, Belgium, and New Zealand.
They tell of childhood holidays, emigration and
casual arrangements to meet for afternoon tea
in the days before email.
The card on the left was posted at 3.30pm on
August 18th 1930 and the one on the right, while
depicting an Irish scene, was sent from Glasgow in 1908.
