Seating The Flax

This photo shows the female nut sliding over the "flax seating tool" and seating the flax. The tool works very well and unfortunately no one actually makes one?? Hey I bet West Marine could sell one for $50.00......Hmmmmm...

Thanks for the great photo's and wisedom, PB blaster, is good,"as advertised on tv ".
The 45 degree cut you recomend was in an articale I saw, again good.
Can the packing be inserted into the nut, then slide on to the shaft, assuming space allows, and the shaft has a slight chamfer, and no burrs ? This versus wraping it on the shaft and tucking it in with pvc pipe tool. Do you know of a torque spec. for ss hose clamps ? I plan to call AWAB, in FL tomorrow for that, will post any findings I get.

No kidding...I once bought West Marine Plex 16 guage bildge pump wire for $2.00 a foot. It quickly corroded away. I replaced it with with 16 guage double insulated commercial wire at Home Depot for 16 cents a foot! That wire had much better copper in it.I heat shrunk all the connections & it works great
