Insert Studs

With the studs made you simply thread them into the backing block. If you got a little aggressive with the tap it's not the end of the world. Mix up some slightly thickened epoxy and apply with a syringe into the hole, wax the stud and thread it in with the thickened epoxy and let it cure. This will create a nearly perfect thread interface between the stud and backing plate. Even with a good tap I still dip the stud into epoxy, coat the inside of the hole and thread it in.

Why wax the studs? You do not want them to turn. If you need to remove one later, just double nut it and you should be able to remove it. if you find it dangerously tight and might twist off, just CAREFULLY quickly heat it up just enough to turn out. BUT! Not too much, or you will damage the G-10.

Very nice post! Thanks. I have used G-10 for many projects. Ask the people that sell it to you about the price of saw blades, etc. It is hell on even good carbide tools. The CORRECT diamond tools will pay for themselves quickly if you have many parts to make. The place we bought from said they tried many diamond saws before finding the best one.

why dont you just use the bronz bolts and countersink in the backing plate as per the install method when bolting through the hull?Wouldn't that then lessen the need to tap and thread the bronze bolt/ rods?
