Inject Non-Thickened Epoxy First

I know I said "thickened epoxy", and we'll get there, but first it is a good practice to inject clear un-thickened epoxy into each hole. By doing this you allow the less viscous, resin only, without thickener, to penetrate the surface pores of the core. This tends to create a better and stronger final bond.

In order to do this I inject straight mixed epoxy into each hole with a syringe. I then let it sit in each hole for about 3-4 minutes and suck it back out with the syringe and squirt it back into the container where I add Cabosil to thicken it.

Did you use the white tape first? What keeps the epoxy from running straight through the holes and out into the cabin below?

How about CPES. It will penetrate the wood even deeper as just epoxy?

This is a really great explanation. The pictures are great. The explanations is thorough. I now feel very confident tackling this on my boat and know it is going to come out top notch. Thank you so much for this great resource.
