Once the gasket is coated and the filter in place simply re-install the base in the opposite manner you removed it.
You should be done in under 10 minutes, even with poor access... Easy!
"RC why do these pumps die?"
I get asked quite a bit why these pumps die and the only correlation I have found is to owners who insist on using a 2 micron primary fuel filter, for which there is no need. My first question to those who ask is; what is the micron rating of your primary filter? The answer I hear back most is "2 micron"..
I replace more fuel pumps on vessels where the owner uses 2 micron filters, lots more, than on boats using 10 or 30 micron primary filters. In fact I rarely if ever come across a failed Facet pump on boats that use 10 or 30 micron filtration.
The 2 micron filters tend to work these pumps harder over their lives and seem to lead to earlier pump death. I see too many of these pumps die early deaths on boats using 2 micron filters. Too many failures for me to suspect this is just a coincidence.
In contrast I have many of these pumps well in excess of 30 years of service, some on commercial engines & generators with 13,000+ hours, but these are almost always on boats with 30 or 10 micron primary filters. Something to consider..
