All our high school's football games were played here once. A brother of my friend, had a scout from Kansas City (or maybe St. Louis) watch him play baseball here. They even had the national model airplane convention here. I remember when one of the speed class planes flying at 120-30 mph came off it's tether and embedded itself in a wooden speaker pole (like a telephone pole) about 30-40 feet from where we were sitting. Another guy had a B-29 with a wingspan of about eight feet, and he couldn't get all the engines running at once. The ramjet...we lived about eight blocks from here and you could hear it well , from my house, when the motor started. Now about all that's played here is soccer. A few years ago they wanted to replace this...as they want to replace all history...but there were a lot of protests, so it wasn't done.
