Barri ... what a great capture this one is ... the red barn against that ominous sky is drama at its best. Voted.

Thanks Marisa
I was very, very lucky to have the light "with" me on this...I did very little post processing, and the camera I had with me isn't very intense on colors. So...the view I had by eye was really spectacular on this storm...it was incredible.

A great capture, Barri, not only the documantary value here!
I love the deep contrast between the red house and the dark stormy sky and the movement of the tornado nearly horizontally.
Fantastic!

Hi Cara
It seems the bad storms have been following pretty much this path, not too far from where I live, for the last few years. I finally had my camera when one went by...I don't like what they do but they sure are fascinating to watch. Thanks much for your comments.

Growing up in Tornado alley, These photos are snapshots of my childhood.

I really like the contrasting sky, and the visual impact of the red barn. Excellent Photo

Thank You ac
I was lucky that it was somewhat early in the afternoon, I had more of a frontal light which accented the dark sky...had it been later I wouldn't have had the lighter foregound.

Thanks Marc...
at least it was moving about a 45 degree angle to my vantage point. You can see how much the cloud has changed from the frame before, and it was probably less than 20-30 seconds difference. I've seen tornados before, after the funnel was well formed...this one wasn't, but sometimes there can be one in the air without the typical funnel. The funnel usually becomes prominent after it touches down.
