Thanks much Marcos
My mother is such a good subject, she will actually look at the camera, which is more than I can say for others in my family :-)
Regards
Barri

Thanks Yiannis
I'm glad the strength of her character shows through on this, she is a very strong, gentle yet determined person. Thanks again.

Thanks Marnix - It is very difficult to take objective photos of people close, like family members, isn't it?
Hahaa, very good observation. She's pretty easy relative to my dad and my kids, she knows what I'm trying to do. Thanks again.

Distance of the photographer versus closeness of the son is mirrored in the cold/warm color contrast. Difficult exercise but succesful in this case.

Thanks much Eric...my mother having such an expressive disposition, makes it much easier to photograph her. Her expressions never look the same twice. She is a very determined person and often it shows on her face. Thanks again.

Thanks much Omayok.
Yes I think she "sometimes" understands what I'm trying to do...the rest of my family runs when they see my camera. Thanks Sincerely.

Thanks much Phil.
Yes my mom, and I'm not saying this because she's my mom, is the most determined person I've known. So I finally got a picture of her showing it in her face, instead of hostility to my constant camera. I'm glad you noticed that I tried to use a diaganol to "de-static" the composition, where the diagonal leads I think the rounded corners of the chair bring it back. I sure appreciate your comments. So many people(including me, at many times) just say "nice photo". But this PBase gives us the opurtunity to do so much more. To learn, and share. Thank You!

A very strong portrait of a determined woman. Usually "Mom" pictures are meant to flatter. Yours is meant to express, and your composition helps it by placing the line of the arm and shoulder in the lower right corner and moving diagonally to the off-center head placement. Excellent detail, response and color as well, Barri.

Thanks jypsee, yes she is quite a person. She met my Dad (a serviceman) brought me to the U.S. in a ship that nearly sunk (storm with 50 foot or higher waves)...way back. She in this photo is 85 years. She is a person of quiet determination. Thanks much for your comments.
