The Ghost Of Wellington,, The Iron Goat Trail

This 8 mile trail follows the remains of the " Great Northern Rail Line " before the 7 mile tunnel was built . The west start of it is a few miles from Skykomish and the eastern start is near Stevens Pass.. My goal today was to explore the debris from the famous 1910 Avalanche that killed 96 people as it ripped two trains off their trains and pulled them down the mountainside.. I was well rewarded though by climbing through the dense brush and hordes of biting bugs is see so much metal and glass still covering the ground in a newly regrown cedar stand.. The trail itself is in good shape and was so much history and beauty as well...

Great reportage from the Dodge Expedition and all at the risk of death from heat, bugs, tetanus and bear attacks. Rest up, we await photos of the near disaster in the old Cascade Tunnel, death by asphyxiation...the New Cascade Tunnel and why none of those cool electric engines have been preserved....
