While observing the portion of the transit between Contact III and IV, someone in the group had noted that it looked like a hole punch.

Nikon D100 ,Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX APO HSM
With 1.4X converter, 1/50 sec, f/6.3, ISO 320. full exif
