This is a model of SEASAT which was the first dedicated oceanographic satellite
launched by NASA. It failed after a short life, but its satellite altimeter provided
global coverage of the ocean surface and considerable gains in gravity modeling and
sea surface topography and current flows were made from its data. Macpurity assisted
in enhancing man;s knowledge of the sea surface topography, based on analysis of the SEASAT data.
