From the under-surface interior of my Ashiko drum. An African design, but this one, hand made in Viroqua, Wisconsin for the independent music store I am a partner in.
The percussive surface is made of goat skin, the mallets are human skin and bone, soul and oneness.
My friend Sibby and I drummed together for the first time... to a recording of vocals and guitar I had done previously. It was a monuments moment... the first of '07.
