A most unusual machine

By sheer chance, I was privileged to watch and photograph the inaugural test of a most unusual machine about two hours ago.
Driver/owner/builder Miles Gray told me he (with some help from friends, no doubt) built it from -- in his words -- "crap lying around the shop".
Can you guess the function and operation of this machine? I'll give you a hint: it's all about entertainment.
There will be more images and explanations added over the next few days; please tune in tomorrow.

Now I know what to do with the steel beams lying around in the garage! You just can't bear to throw these things away, y'know?

Yup I was just going to say it was weight transfer sled for a tractor pull......

This is the sled that gets pulled by a truck or tractor during a pulling contest. The further along the sled is pulled, the more the weight is pulled up the incline.
