Notched log construction

Early settlers on the Canadian Prairies, especially those from Eastern Europe, favoured this form
of construction for farm buildings. The logs were chinked with a mixture of cow manure, mud, and straw;
the walls were plastered (as seen at upper left) with the same mixture and whitewashed.
