Bohemian Denar

Bohemian Denar collected as part of that half of my ancestry.
Read "DUX BOLESLAVUS" (Duke Boleslav the third duke of Bohemia, 967 – 999 AD) on the left view and
"CIV OMERS PRACA" for Omer (likely the mintmaster) in the City Prague on the right.
These read counterclockwise in Latin with letters mixed upside down and sideways. (The die makers were mostly illiterate)
See "the hand of God" on left and image of the Duke on right. Early Bohemian history is mostly known from the coins.
The first Duke was St. Vaclaw (the good King Wenceslaus of Christmas carols).

other sizes: small medium original auto
