Out for a walk on this fine Day of Camoes, of Portugal and of the Portuguese Communities. Started off at the Parque das Nacoes, then walked right along to the Vasco da Gama bridge before returning to catch the Metro to Colombo. After that it was the Metro and then a tram out to Alcantara to meet a client, following which I had a snack of chourico and bread and two bottles of Super Bock in a cafe while watching the first few minutes of the Spain v. Russia game before heading up to see Charles and catch up (and borrow his exercise bike for 20 minutes). A quick shower and we both headed into town for something to eat. I discovered that one of my favourite meals, bacalhau com natas, has been banned from sale in restaurants by the Portuguese food hygiene authorities, so I made do with bacalhau a minhota instead - and it was good. Finished off the evening with a ginginha and a stroll up to Marques do Pombal to inspect the big screen ahead of tomorrow's Portugal v. Czech Republic game. No fewer than 10 hours after I left the house, it was time to head back. And here I am. A tiring day now over.
