The is a village on the road between Lisbon and Benedita. I have passed this sign many times before, and I have always wanted to take a picture of it. Why? I hear you ask. Well, I'll tell you. Venda das Raparigas means "girls for sale". I've always thought it a strange name, and I'm sure there are very good historical reasons for it, but I have not -- as yet -- seen any evidence that there are, in fact, any girls for sale. But then, perhaps I've just been passing at the wrong time. Maybe the next time. As for me... well, I had a choice. I could either stay in overheated Lisbon and overheat, or I could go to Santa Catarina with Silvia, watch the Portugal v Turkey game in the village cafe with the... well, with the village... then have some home made food followed the next morning with a couple of hours on the beach at Foz do Arelho then a family meal to celebrate one of Silvia's nieces' confirmation. I chose the village, beach and confirmation meal.
