I know that I said I would start writing this on a daily basis, and that is what I shall endeavour to do - no matter how difficult it may prove at times. Take today as a for instance. I woke up tired this morning and that is largely how I remained all day. To combat the feelings of tiredness and lethargy, and the associated migraine, I decided to head off into town for a wander about the waterfront and a browse around the bookshop. I came across a small book, a reprint of the advice given by the US government to American soldiers in Britain in 1942 - telling them not to throw their money about and on no account whatsoever to criticise the royal family or go off with a 'Tommy's' girl. Interesting anthropological material, but at £4.99 a bit expensive for a 10 minute read. In any case I read it in the bookshop before reading the sister titles: advice to British servicemen in France in 1944 and in Germany in 1944. I strolled down to the City Quay, which continues to be transformed - every time I'm there there seems to be a new building under construction or renovation. It's just a shame there are no decent shops. I headed over to my new favourite shop in Dundee - Borders - where I purchased a Cormac McCarthy book (Road), which I commenced to read on the bus back home, which did nothing good for my headache. At work I read about an 11-year-old girl being admitted to a hospital in Leon in Spain. Apparently she was pregnant to a 13-year-old boy. Sometimes I have to wonder where the parents are in all this, and how they can let this happen.
