I really hope you said this to his/her face!

Re public/private rights - I've been abused twice for taking photos. Once in a public market by an idiot who objected to me taking a picture of him(!) in a 35mm 'landscape' public market shot in the centre of a town. And then a woman in jodpurs who screamed abusively at me for taking a shot of her damn horse on private land, when I thought I had just turned off into a lane. For some reason, she saw fit to shout at me like a servant who had forgotten to take out the washing - when a simple polite sentence would have been enough. I felt like saying to her, that'll be "Dr Servant" to you", if only she'd stopped for breath...

Mmmm, issues. I have just encountered an issue which resembles this one but with the States of Jersey. Any photograph of a 'public' building can apparently be used by the states of Jersey to advertise the island with, with or without permission of the author. Only if you have obtained written conscent to use the image from the property owner, you can claim copyright. The most famous case of this is the Eiffel Tower. Nevertheless, I would like to reveal my solidarity with you and the well known photographer. Perhaps you should inform the owner of teh castle that you were merely photographing the landscape. It is rather inconvenient that someone build a castle on it...

Well done Stu. Did a google search (kames castle) and found a deleted photo in second place perhaps if we get more searches it will get to number one.
Voted.
