656. Beating a retreat

13 April 2006

The forecast apocalypse has been averted. It's official. The infected swan wasn't British, and obviously didn't have time to mix with the natives before it popped its little webbed feet and washed up at Cellardyke. This group of mutes and mallards were foiled in their efforts to reduce Broughty Castle, and are seen here making a hasty retreat to the safety of the Firth of Tay. A celebratory march past of commuters will take place tomorrow in the city centre between 8.30 and 9.00 am. Another march past is scheduled to take place in the evening, from 5.00 to approximately 6.00 pm. Men are expected to wear ties. God bless us and long live the British Empire. What! What!

Fantastic B&W!
(Dominic, it is exactly the same with Australian news services. No Australians (or whatever number were,) were among the dead, now for todays weather forecast.)

Love the treatment of this. Glad they are getting a reprieve.

Dominic. You have just reminded me of the Press and Journal's headline: 'Aberdeen man dies as ship sinks'. The ship was the Titanic :D

I loved the whole - it wasn't one of our birds, but the a johnny foreigner - escapade. Similar to e.g. Ferry disaster 1 Brit dies, (and 3000 other people too), news headlines.

As goes the Empire, so goes the World. We are pleased.
