What is it?

25 July 2005

452.
Found lots of these in a warmer clime and wanted to see if they would thrive this far north. Some people believe that they are a problem, although to others they are useful for writing material, food and bathroom products. It is not a difficult challenge - can you rise to the occasion?

While you're thinking about it, here's a little music for you to enjoy

Ye gads! It is already a year since we went to Denoon Glen
I was supposed to go back and photograph the fortress!

Nikon D70 ,Nikon E 50mm f/1.8 MF,+2 and +4 diopter

I think it's a seal ??? Great DOF
Dominic Kite26-Jul-2005 12:50
Is it a form of historical Portuguese Mushroom?
Leo Charette26-Jul-2005 11:05
The dof on this is scrumptuous and use of the signature Lloyd-Jones toning works very well. The cant adds much to the interests. Now as to what it is???? I assume the forms in the background are meant to provide a clue.... but I would guess that this is a ring.

Could be old buttons. Never good at these guessing games.
laine8226-Jul-2005 10:20
Gum tree seed pods or pine nuts perhaps. Either way the DOF is great.

I have no idea! :-o

Some kind of cotten plant? I'm stumped.
Guest 26-Jul-2005 02:43
Stewart, nicely composed image made all the more interesting by the challenge to guess what they are. Good use of DOF and white space.

I would have guessed acorns, but it doesn't go with the rest of the clues.
Coleen Perilloux Landry26-Jul-2005 02:19
I'd like to say mushrooms but I cannot imagine them in bathroom products. Or camomile either.
Guest 26-Jul-2005 01:05
acorns??
But people don't eat acorns and not sure they are useful for writing material;they are not bathroom products either. I guess I'm totally wrong.
....eeerrrr,mushrooms?
Guest 26-Jul-2005 01:03
acorns??

Stu You know me I would try but I am going to work in 20 mins, but when I first saw it and before I read your words I thought you had dug up some old seals as in for making wax seals.(I need a spell checker on PBase) please.
rebelshot25-Jul-2005 23:44
For some reason, I will say mushroom...

I can't for the life of me fathom this one out. I know you have loads of cork down in Portugal, but its not that me thinks. But I really like the white background here.
Cheryl Hawkins25-Jul-2005 23:12
Peyote or Hollyhock bits.
Johan Toll25-Jul-2005 22:56
Very nice abstract shot! Can´t say I really know what it is though. Well, it could be the cookie monster. :)

Looks like the 'cookie monster'...
