Loch of Lintrathen

4 August 2004

106.
Well... finally managed to get my invoices done, as well as catch up on a whole load of correspondence. I re-registered with the Bank of Scotland's internet banking service - although I am seriously considering changing bank since they were taken over by the Halifax... whereas before dealing with the BofS has always been straightforward (their byline was 'A Friend for Life', and they really seemed to mean it), now they seem to be altering everything for the worse. Things that used to be simple are now difficult, and they are nowhere near as approachable as they once were. Anyway, that's another story. After catching up on my work, Liam and I sat down to watch 'Once Upon a Time in the West' (I'm a sucker for Spaghetti Westerns), following which we went castle hunting again. This time our travels took us to Hatton Castle in Newtyle, then Belmont Castle in Meigle (which used to be Henry Campbell Bannerman's home - Campbell Bannerman was Prime Minister from 1905-1908). We then headed up towards Glen Isla to Ruthven Castle and on to Airlie; however, by the time we got there it was getting too dark, and it was a long walk down the drive to the castle. We decided to leave it for another day, and headed home via Loch of Lintrathen and Glen Isla. The mist was coming down as we reached Lintrathen, and we soaked up the atmosphere. The evening was almost totally ruined when I downloaded the images onto my computer... I hadn't noticed that my camera's glass was dirty, and consequently, very few of the photographs I took actually turned out.

This is just so beautiful. The grain works so nicely. Great Job, dirty glass and all.

What I call a happy accident. You know Stewart the part I fear most about travelling to places such as yours is that I have to leave it & go home.
