SP: Scruffy

I decided to not shave for the last ten or so days, turns out this has been the hottest 10 days in the last two years. Not planned!

I will clean up tomorrow. Maybe!

I am still playing with selective desaturation. This time I desaturated, in Hue/Saturation, the red and yellow both more than -50 then also slid the Lightness bar around for individual channels in Hue/Saturation. USM and then added 6 percent uniform noise to just give a slight grit to the dark photo.

Photo setup and shooting time: 7 minutes
Post Processing and deciding where I wanted to go with this: 35 minutes.

I gotta start planning these things.

Oh hey if anyone is interested. I started a informal challenge, I think, in the Forums. Starting this comming Monday August 1st I am going to do a week of photos further and further away. The rules are as follows. Take your first image, the next day you have to be further away, the next day further away from that. Example: If on the first day you take a photo in your living room, the next day you have to take a photo "further away" say your back yard, then the next day down the street and so on and so on, but each time you must get further away from the last photo.

Any takers?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Here is how I actually took the shot (post processing is described above). I had one light source, my 580EX flash on a small light stand to the right of my face just slightly infront of me and to the side. The flash had a snoot on it so it make for very directional harsh, direct light. Hence the strong shadow to the left of my nose. On camera I had the ST-E2 mounted to control the one flash wirelessly off camera. Have a nice weekend everyone.

Great light! Well composed using the rule of thirds. I love deep moody presentations. I would love to see this in B&W too. Wonderful SP.
