Reunion island : 2008-11 vanilla dives

Three years of regular diving on the french spice island of La Reunion, tucked right between the more famous Mauritius and Madagascar islands.

Although it might not be the best dive resort on this blue planet, one shouldn't overlook the diving on this hotspot of biodiversity : whales in austral winter, a record breaking area for big game fish, loads of fish hovering in the lagoon, some pretty decent macro diving... how's that for a start, when you know that your surface time will be spent sipping vanilla flavored rhum or sightseeing extinct volcanoes.
