Didn't Mick Cross the taxi guy own it in the 80s? Seen to remember he kept an old lion there! it was deaf with no teeth, he also kept a crocodile down in Bluetown.

Had my honeymoon at Leysdown September 1962. Had a nice time staying at Seaview chalet camp, and although we didn't have a lot of money, enjoyed our first unchaperoned holiday together. I know we thought the Island Hotel was very posh. Although my wife died some time ago, am going to visit Leysdown for a nostalgic trip down memory lane, in a couple of weeks with my lady friend, who also had her honeymoon at Leysdown in 1959. Her Auntie owned a chalet there. Not sure of the site.

I spent many a good night at the island hotel when it was owned and run by Stan Northover in the early 60s
