My Grandfather, Ted Ancell, owned and ran the small tea/ice cream shop at the top of the slope. The building which is to the right of the circle. He also owned Ted Ancells the toy shop on the corner of Sheerness High Street and Beech Street which my Grandmother ran after his death.

In the foreground on the left is a brick structure with a sloping concrete roof. This appears to be an artillery observation point. The perspective is a bit confusing and the gun appears closer to the camera than expected. Maybe some more emplacements existed and demolished for the funfair? Unlikely, but possible.
The Ravelin guns were roughly where Tesco's has been built. During the c60's-80's the site was a caravan park between the Moat and the Funfair and backing onto the carpark where the market was held until the early 1990's redevelopment.
The Chip shop opposite the Railway Tavern had a framed aeriel photograph of the area showing the concrete emplacements which survived until the site was redeveloped, don't know if its still there, but might be worth asking about.

Huge guns - I never knew they were there. It looks like they are about where the funfair was built later.
