I'm glad I could help out a little on this one. I am also very pleased that at least one of these boats survived. I remember well in the early to mid sixties going "Right out and round the wreck" on them. I have some photos in my personal collection, so next time I am back in the UK I will dig them out and scan them. May be useful for your web page too.

Cheers Alexadra. I wish Graham had left an email address. He may have been able to supply some info on the Sheppey Queen. Maybe someone else will be able to help. Good Luck.

i am the proud owner of the sheppey queen! she is presently moored in rainbow quay, south dock marina, london se16 7sz.... having spent five years tidying her up from the inside, i am now at the point of looking for two engines for her, as hers are knackered! i am also looking for all information and stories, photographs and more about her... plus any funding that might be available... i aim to restore her to her full grace for next year, when she is sixty, and have her sailing again... the isle of sheppey would probably be her first port of call... how many friends does she have down there? shipwrights especially....please contact me and let me know what you know of her.. i would like to compile and make a book about her life... she is beautiful and i really love her....thank you... look forward to hearing from you ...

This is exactly as I remember the summers. You can see the two pleasure boats "Silver Star" and "Sheppey Queen" on the bottom right. Wonder what ever happened to them. The Silver Star was run by the Lillo family, who lived in Jefferson Road.
