Lake people? You make them sound like there from a horror film. I don't live at the lakes but visit it quite often on the weekends. I love the lakes and the people included. It is a beautiful area. I'm so thankful no one was killed or hurt real bad. With all the damage it's still a beautiful vacation spot. I will visit it til the day I die.

Are children or adults posting here? Looks like a lot of children to me. Great pictures, glad nobody was killed or hurt seriously. That means that the storm spotters did their jobs correctly and got the warning out in time and everyone took precautions and did the right thing. Without the weather service, would anyone have even known that it was on the way? Even the children managed to stop sucking their thumbs at just the right time to do the right thing.

Talk about negative reread what you just said Alot of people have worked hard for 50 plus years and yes we can afford a home on the lake but choose not to for that reason. I didn't have things handed to me on a silver platter either and have a very nice home that I am proud of just as you are but it isn't on the lake cause I am not a stuck up person like alot of lake people are and think they are better than other people well you aren't we were all born the same way and put our pants on the same way every morning so you are no different cause you choose to live on the lake it is that every time something happens around the area we are suppose to feel sorry for the lake people and why? Please tell me and alot of others why that is and then maybe there won't be negative thoughts about others. I don't like all these negative comments either coming from people but the person or persons that are writting these is also saying they are very happy that nobody lost a life over it cause lilke the one said you can't buy back a life but you can buy back the material things so they aren't being really that negative when they can also say that everybody is safe and it is a shame about everybody's damage but once again we are all alive and can live to tell about it. So I agree with the person that wrote the last statement they said so Let's stop isn't gaining anything by it let's just all be happy that we are alive and that God blessed us by keeping us here on this earth, I know I am happy.

I cant believe the negative comments fromthis guest list!!!!Brian happened to be in that area, hes only one person, pretty hard to cover every town. And, I want to add. These "lake" people didnt have these homes, and cabins handed to them on a silver platter. Myself for one, I have worked hard for 50 years, I chose to have a serene place on the lake with my hard "earned" money. So, if you are interested about living on the lake, come see me, I may be ready to sell. You could be so fortunate! Get off your "duff" and manage your money better so you can afford a "place" on the lake!!

Just a comment to the one that had a saying about if you don't have something nice to say don't say it,well I am sure alot of people have heard that and there is also another can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. We aren't here to bicker with each other and that was something that didn't need to be saidl. THank God that you are still alive and still have your house we all need to supportive of each other not quarrel. SO STOP!!!!

I am a weather spotter, and I was out during this evening. I can attest that these were some of the strongest straight line winds I've encountered, one gust registered as high as 96 mph. None of these pictures are fake.

It seems that storms do not know where a good place is. It goes where it may. Yes, damage was done, but no lives were lost. That is a good thing. We can pull together in times like this and help where we can no matter where we are. Whether we are at a lake, resort, residential or business, we can help out where we are and love our neighbors. If we were in their shoes, would we want others help or expect their help? If we don't help others, they probably won't help us. Get it????

I am very thankful that no one got hurt! We were very fortunate. In a time of crisis, we pulled together and that is what matters the most and that is what we should keep on doing despite what comes our way including economy dumps. This is just the tip of the iceberg of all the pressures the earth is under. Think about it! We are in an area that is a little bit safer than the coastal regions. We don't live near the BP oil spill or where a huge hurricane or tsunami comes ashore. We only had a little bit of wind. If you think the wind storm we had was bad. Try living in Kansas full time and compare Kansas to Dickinson County. This little wind storm was nothing compared to an F1 to an F5 (Finger of God 2 mile wide tornado). Tsunami's are 3 miles high on average with speeds up to 500-800 mph or more. Hurricanes are just as bad. And this is hurricane season along the coast. So don't blame your neighbor for the tree that possibly came down on your lawn; it was the wind's fault not your neighbor's. Take a good look around you. You are alive! Your family is still alive! You have much to be appreciative for. We should love one another. Hate deteriorates! Love unites! So, let's keep banding together in brotherhood/sisterhood/family.

Brian, You did a great job of preserving the history of the storm. I lived at Terrace Park for 25 years and glad I am not there now. We had several stroms when we lived there but there were not as many boats and hoists. great job.

This was a terrible storm.....no matter where it hit it affected the lives of all those it made contact with. It is so very important that we be thankful no lives were lost and no towns or areas were completely destroyed as in areas I have seen in the past... where small towns have been almost wiped off the map. I am not a permanent resident of the area, but was there that weekend and as I helped with cleanup of the areas I am a part of, I saw people working together to do what they could to help each other. This is the important part of community.....no matter which community it is. Please continue to support each other and work together as you all pull through this disaster. Sincerely, an out of towner and Red Cross volunteer.

It is a shame that anyone has had to experience the material losses of this storm. But let's focus on the fact that the losses were only material in nature. Just "stuff". No lives were lost, and for that we should all be thankful. Please try and resist the urge to vent your frustration on others. The storm was not their fault. Lake people and non-lake people are all a part of the same community, and all have suffered, and are suffering, through this situation. This is the time to pull together, not drive a wedge between yourselves. May all of you have God's strength and blessing as you recover from thiws traumatic experience.

we all work hard no matter where we live you just made it sound like lake people are the only ones that work hard to have nice things we all do so we can all have nice things some just don't choose to live on the lake cause we know the bad things that can happen by the lake or living on the lake so don't make it just you lake people work hard and the main thing right now and at that time is that nobody lost their life over it. We can always rebuild and buy back things we lost but we can't buy back our life or somebody else's life. Let's just all be thankful we got through this okay.

Why do people always say things negative about the people that have lake homes etc. We work hard, so we can have the nice things. It is a shame that anybody lost anything in that strom, but being negative about "the lake people" isn't the answer.

I don't think taking pics at the lake and posting them negates any loss to any people or towns outside of the location where the pics were taken!! There were storms all over that night - Nebraska and Minnesota included. We all understand that nature does not discriminate a town from a lake or whatever. We all sympathesize with the losses and we all can recognize the pain that this destruction has caused, no matter who, what or where!!! Posting the pics is not personal or discriminatory; it just happens to be where the photographer was!!!!!!!!!!!

So true, so many people had houses, garages, and vehicles damaged in Montgomery too, so thankful nobody was hurt.

You know that is great to while all the lake people get attention the little town of Montgomery got hit pretty bad also but I guess the poor little common people of this nice little town doesn't deserve recognition. Sorry to see the only people that count are the lake people. We have lives and possesions over here that we lost also don't have the big boats though but we do have things. Thanks for the recogniton
