The last night of camp, all the campers get together at the beach for a memorial ceremony. They have spent the afternoon building a memorial boat to honor their lost loved one. The boats start out as a block of wood with a candle attached and the families decorate them however they choose. Craft materials are provided for them. During the ceremony, everyone gets a chance to light the candle and launch their boat into the lake. After the ceremony, a staff member retrieves the boats and returns them to their owners. After all this we have a campfire and roast marshmellows.
