An interesting note is that the Department of Defense has ordered a change in the way all
grave markers are manufactured. Previously, all the areas that contained writing were done in
black letters and numbers. This is the old style marker where the black lettering is still present.
From now on, all markers will be sandblasted and will be white on white. This is true for
headstones for in-ground graves as well and will be consistent at all national cemeteries.
Personally, I like the old style better.
