There is a legend that Bigfoot screamed all night long here during a fierce thunderstorm in 1972, as told by a backpacker that was there. It's not hard to believe the true feeling of aloneness in this wilderness when I had Papoose Lake all to myself, and no one else, over July 4th, 1993.
