My husband, Don Knigh,t was on the Muir trail at the Muir Hut in 1931 with his father, Walt Knight, who packed the stone masons, Mike Wentz and his crew and all of their supplies: cement, tools, and all of their wood, food, water, and other necessities to a camp on the site. Walt also packed all of their food supplies from Mono Hot Springs up through Evolution Valley. Walt had a partner, Wes Qualls, who packed on the first leg og the journey, and Walt wouild pack the latter part. They would alternate their journey from time to time so that they both had the same amount of "bad trail".
