Where the Klamath River meets Dillon Creek, and a legend

It's rare to see snow here. The Karuk tribe has a legend of a great serpent that lives in the river and is kept at bay by a "watcher" that sits on a point along the ridgeline (to the left). As I drive by on Hwy 96, I always look for the "watcher" just for comfort. Bigfoot could easily live up Dillon and never be seen. Kelly and I took a three mile hike up Dillon creek trail to the Bluffs this day. These slopes burned in 2008, and you can see the browning if you look.
