Delphi is an archaeological site and a modern town in lower central Greece on the south western spur of Mount Parnassus in the valley of Phocis. Delphi was the site of the Delphic oracle, the most important oracle in the classical Greek world and also a major site for the worship of the god Apollo. Every four years the precursor to the Olympic Games, the Pythian Games were held at Delphi. Delphi is about a 3 hour drive from Athens.
The name Delphi is pronounced, in the English manner, as "Delf-eye" or in the Greek manner, as "Delfee".
