Sigma SD10

Images taken with the Sigma SD10. I do most of my photography in the immediate vicinity of my home. The dogs and people I have been shooting for the last five years are most often found there. In the course of my travels on behalf of Sigma and Foveon, I have visited some spectacular places in Europe, Asia, and North America.

My lens collection has expanded over time. In most cases, I try to list the lens used in an image. If it is missing and important for you, send me an e-mail with the link to the image.

want fuzzy 100% enlarged pictures get you a ccd camera(can*n or nik*n), for anything else use a sigma, beginning with sd9 back to sd 14 will blow your mind, eyes. 3D look. I dont have one yet but i will order me one in the next days.
all consideration for you Laurence! and for the the camera useing foveon sensor!

1- Guys some of those who comment have no idea what they are talking about.
the sigma sd9 & 10 acually gives pictures that easily rival 10mp cameras in its details.
if you don't believe me go look at the comparison at www.dpreview.com between the sigma and canon D60. and D60 and D1s. look at the details and you will beleive.

2- The sigma pictures are the only ones that can be resised to a large files (72MB) and there is no artifacts (no hallows around sharp objects, followed by canon Eos 10D/300D)
I have printed pictures on 8x10 of canon Eos 10D and sigma SD9 and those of sigma are clearly surperior in sharpnes and details.

3-Downside of the Sigma pictures: are the green Hallow close to white colors and the reputation of low quality control (dust issure inside the camera on the sensor)

I have been contemplating investing money into a SD9 or SD10 but the nightshots have always scared me. I'm a student and admire all the inspirational work that people have put here with SD9's and 10's.. Absolutely wonderful images!! I have just one very important concern, has anybody observed any change or improvement in Nightshot quality AFTER UPDATING the SD9 FIRMWARE ?? PLease... can someone answer that for me so I can put an end to my confused missery and just buy the damn thing!!:)

How dare you comment like that. I'm a 20 yr Nikon user and find the Sigma/Foveon combination fantastic. I almost went with Canon but Sigma blows them both away. What the heck are you trying to say...avoiding certain situations? sub-par lenses? The EX versions are rivalring the L series Canons. You must be an idiot. What do you own anyway? Have you had experiences with the Sigma? Punk! Hehehe.

I looked at photos made by popular cameras and the only thing I like better are from the Canon 1Ds and Nikon D1X comes far second in quality.

After reading comments from your guess Sumitriy, it is so strange that why anyone would make such comments. Look to me like your photographs stolen some winds out of some ghosts flames. If you had been smart using others cameras you would be praise for your photoghaphs' quality instead.

Ohh but I guess I will have to be very careful of what I take pictures of with my sub par
lenses with CA and Blooming and innacurate color and yadda yadda yadda!

Here's what Sigma/Foveon shooters seem to avoid. Scenes with strong backlight (CA, flare, subpar lenses). Night shots (noise, blooming). Pictures of people with anything but gray background behind them (skin colors). Pictures taken under artificial light (poor white balance, even when manual). Flash pictures (inaccurate exposure, white balance problems). Pictures with highlights partially blown to bring out the shadows (highlights are blown abruptly, sometimes with gray halos around them).

Here's what they seem to prefer. Scenes with lots of yellow or blue in them (fall foliage, sky). Scenes with lots of color detail, especially in blues, reds and yellows. Highly detailed cityscapes (whoa, I can read that banner a mile away). Macro. Architecture. Landscapes (though they come out sharp but color-inaccurate due to problems with greens).

Your pictures look better than other SD10 pictures I found on PBase at this moment. Don't know why. But I can see they are as good as those came out of SD9. Nice work.
