Es una lastima que hayan personas malas que inventen cosas que no son todas las inventan son las que eran ordinarias y no les gustaba que las corrigieran yo estuve casi diez año y nunca me paso nada solo me castigaban cuando me portaba mal. llegue en el año 1987 y salí en el año 1996 gracias a dios tengo muy bonitos recuerdos los quiero mucho yo era conocida como Dinora aunque en verdad me llamo Nora. Patricia, I'm not sure who you are or how you wound up connected to Hogar Tierra Santa. Santiago Martinez was undoubtedly a charming man who deceived many, and who continues to deceive. Charismatic though he may be, he is unquestionably guilty of serial rape of countless girls and young women. You are not the first to have been fooled by him, and you will not be the last...that said, it is curious that you would be aware of the controversy (to say the least) surrounding this man, yet so readily take his word for it. I strongly urge you to consider all sides before making such bold statements, especially because we are dealing with rape, and the fact that lives have been ruined by his hand. There was a girl who grew up in the home. She was precious beyond belief. When she finished high school she began nursing school, and stayed at the home, working, making tortillas early in the morning, in exchange for room and board while she studied. She was a very hard worker. She told me that she had something important to tell me, but she couldn't say what it was until she left the home. About one year later I found out that she had indeed graduated nursing school, returned to the remote, extremely poor town of her family, and shortly after killed herself. In her suicide note she stated that after leaving the home, the years and years of abuse and rape caught up with her. Her depression was too much. She was alone. She did not know how to deal with it. She could no longer bear to live. When you're dealing with stories and accusations like this, it is truly unfair to "pick a side" unless you are willing to dig deep and commit to gathering facts and evidence to make an educated decision. By not doing so, by assuming you have found your answer in consulting the accused, you are doing a great disservice to the many, many children who have been devastated by his sociopathic reign.

I just returned from a 10 day visit to Hogar Tierra Santa with a heart filled with love. It is hard to describe in words the overwhelming, unconditional love I received from the children. They were true examples of gratitude and love. We laughed, played, shared and then cried together on my last day. Santiago Martinez is a soft spoken man with an amazing inner strength who tirelessly provides for the children as best he can even after losing some financial support due to the publicity of the false accusations (shame on the people who attempted to tarnish this kind, generous man's reputation-and hurt those loving children in the process) . The children and many people in Villa De San Antonio loving call him "tio". I joyously felt a part of one big happy, loving family for 10 glorious days. I can't wait to return.

Santiago Martinez posted bail but remains on trial for the rape of minors under his care. The Honduran legal justice system is extremely slow. Santiago spent several months in jail before being able to post bail. He continues to thwart the feeble efforts of the Honduran social welfare authorities to move the very few children who remain at Tierra Santa to somewhere they could receive the care they deserve.

I thought that this website was taken down a year ago, but apparently it was still active. I came on here today and discovered the huge flame war that has been going on. Obviously, it is a very sensitive topic. Does anyone have any updated information on what happened with Santiago and who is running the Hogar now? Unfortunately, I don't have any new information.

Yo vivi en el Hogar por 10 anos, vi muchisimas cosas que aunque era una nina mi conciensia me decia que no estaban bien... como: los videos pornograficos que nos hacia ver a todas las que teniamos de 14 anos para arriba. tambien los sertamenes de belleza en trages de banos que el organizaba en noches de semana despues de que las maestras se marchaban y que el y de ves en cuando sus hijos eran los unicos no internos. mi corazonsito me decia " this is not right" pero yo misma en mis adentros me convesia que el era el papa que yo nunca tube y que no se atreveria a hacernos dano. hubo vez que yo lo vi con estos hojos que un dia se comeran los guzanos que se metia a media noche con una linterna de mano (foco) al cuarto de las medianas y les alumbraba las partes privadas a mis companeras de cuarto... por suerte yo dormia en la cama de arriba de mi camarote.( bunk bed). Gracias a Dios el nunca me toco aunque hubo vez que hizo comentarios sexuales muy incomodos para mi, nunca me toco es mas me hacia la vida imposible y hasta el sol de hoy nose porque. ahora soy madre y esposa y trato de no pensar en el pero me duele que haya echo tanto dano. no le deseo mal. solo me da un noseque que la ley se tarde tanto en hacerlo pagar por tanto dano.

yo quiero contar acerca de mis experiencias de vida en el hogar tierra santa. en esta pagina puedo expresar los sentimientos yo soy una de las muchas VICTIMAS que sufrimos del ABUSO SEXUAL! de parte de CONCEPCION ARZU MARTINEZ "mi tio SANTIAGO" son experiencias horribles que me marcaron la vida y me dejaron cicatrices que espero que en el futuro lleguen a sanar.cuando miro mi pasado solo pienso en la manera que pude cambiarlo y tengo muchas preguntas y muy pocas repuestas. acerca de ese pasado que no me deja vivir el presente y no me deja pensar en mi futuro. les voy acontar una de muchas veces en que sufri el abuso sexual en manos de un enfermo SEXUAL! perdi mi virginidad a los 14 años fue para las visperas de la navidad, no recurdo bien la fecha pero se que hacia mucho frio, recuerdo que andaba una pijama rosada de una barbie y dormia el cuarto phillips, com9o de costumbre santiago hacia su revicion en mi cuarto me levanto de la cama yo estaba media adormitada y no sabia lo que estaba sucediendo pense que el necesitaba mi ayuda y me levante descalza y con frio lo segui el trataba de que la madera del cuarto no crujiera bajo su pies pero su olor a tabaco y un furte a olor a fragancia de perfume lo delataban era muy entrada la noche y todo el hogar estaba en silencio, me dijo que callara y caminara en el mayor silencio posible no tenia idea de lo que estaba sucediendo me llevo a su oficina y no quiero dar detalles pero esta noche me violo es muy triste y doloroso tener que compartir con ustedes los sufrimientos que pase en esos momentos de mi pasado, y en ese entonces yo no sabia nada acerca de la sexualidad aun todavia no comprondia ese modo extraño de comportarse al hombre que en toda mi niñez vi como padre lo tenia en un pedestal de admiracion y ejemplo. el cual se derrumbo esa noche no tenia ni idea de que estaba sangrando toda mi pijama estaba bañado de sangre y sentia un fuerte dolor, cuando el termino de abusar me exigio que no le contara a nadie me hizo prometer que mi boca nunca revelara la verdad. el abuso siguio en diferentes lugares y conforme pasaban los años le tenia miedo a ser enfermo psicologico. cuando tuve la mayoria de la edad entre al colegio yo llevaba un indicie muy bajo y con el aprendizaje supe que era victima de un abuso sexual, psicologico, y fisico. yo como mujer estaba totalmente destrozada y muchas veces pense en el suicidio era la unica forma de alejar el dolor y sus pensamiento que me atormentaban actualmente estoy recibiendo ayuda psicologica y espero recuperarme y salir de este abismo profundo que aveces no siento que no tiene fin, no puedo contar los años que vivi feliz pero si puedo contar los años que sufri. santiago es un personaje que se esconde bajo un antifaz de amor y bondad pero la realidad es otra es un hombre sin escrupulos capaz de lastimar niños inocentes sin detenerse a pensar cuanto le afectara a ese niño o niña. actualmente alejandrina y cristina son directoras ejecutivas del hogar tierra santa pero santiago todavia tiene axeso libre del hogar de los niños recordemos que sandra y cristina fueron internas y le tienen respeto a ese señor y cualquier orden que el les da ellas los cumplen al pie de la letra porque aun ellas no tienen años de experiencias de cuidar niños. en el pasado SANDRA ALEJANDRINA GONZALES maltrato a muchos niños principalmente a la casa #1 y casa # 2 (varones) yo fui testigo cuando no les daba comida, les pegaba y los forzaba a hacer aseos no adecuados para su edad. Dear mr Santiago, I must say I am just a bit disturbed by what I read here and what I read on your website this evening. There are a lot of terrible things said here by several people. I wonder what you have done to make so many enemies. I suppose there is a small hint in your writing as you write in all capital letters. It is common knowledge writing in all capitals expresses anger and is the same as shouting in person. Did you intend to be so impolite as to shout at everyone reading this blog or are you unaware you were being very rude? I also believe one who constantly threatens others as you did in your two posts probably uses threats as a means of intimidation quite often. If my observation is accurate, and I don’t know that it is, it lends quite a bit of credibility to the assentation that you have threatened young girls who have made accusations against you. From reading these posts the one thing I feel fairly certain of is you are a troubled man, or maybe a man in trouble. I pray that you will get the help you so desperately need and I pray the children who have accused you of these terrible acts of abuse and sexual molestation get the help they deserve and I pray they may forgive you.

Patrick, I have no doubt that Santiago was extremely hospitable during your stay. Most sociopaths are quite charming, think Ted Bundy. Plus, this is a man who is extremely desperate for your money. I don't doubt your account of the children running up to Santiago and hugging him, nor that there were no visible signs of abuse during your visit. However, did you spend the whole night there? Did you follow Santiago's every move? Obviously not. Rapists and child molesters don't do their business out in the open for everyone to see. Santiago has raped numerous girls in the dark of night, the privacy of a hotel, in his car, at his personal home, etc... Obviously not all of the children are abused nor are all of the girls raped. A predator picks and chooses his victims with care. Out of respect for Santiago's many victims, past and present, please don't make a matter of fact statement about something you really have no idea about. This isn't about politics, this is about justice for the victims.

My name is Patrick. Currently I live in Dover Delaware, USA. I worked at Enrique Soto Cano AB from 2008 to 2010. During that time, I met my wife. I recently returned to Honduras to visit at the Hogar Tierra Santa (August 20th - August 31 2011). My wife spent most of her childhood at the Hogar Tierra Santa, so it was nice to see where she grew up. During my stay I had the privilege of Meeting the Children and the women who help them day to day. It was a very pleasant and loving environment. I also had the Pleasure of meeting the Director, Santiago Martinez. Santiago was extremely hospitable during my stay. One of the things I noticed was when Santiago entered into the court yard of the orphanage; all the children ran to him with open arms and gave him hugs. He is truly a father figure for the children. At NO time during my stay did I see signs abuse or neglect. I’m not sure who "The Truth" is but the comments they make on this page don’t match what I saw two weeks ago!! I don’t know what kind of politics would motivate someone to slander the name of a loving orphanage and a kind hearted director!? But I’m here to say that the Hogar Tierra Santa is an organization with only good intentions and can use any assistants to further better orphaned children's lives. Mi nombre es Patrick. Durante mi estancia he tenido el privilegio de conocer a los niños y las mujeres que les ayudan día a día. Era un ambiente muy agradable y cariñosa. También tuve el placer de conocer el director, Santiago Martínez. Santiago era extremadamente hospitalario durante mi estancia. Una de las cosas que noté fue que Santiago entró en el patio del orfanato, y todos los niños corrieron hacia él con los brazos abiertos y le abraza. Él es verdaderamente una figura paterna para los niños. En ningún momento durante mi estancia pude ver señales de abuso o negligencia. No estoy seguro de que "La Verdad" no es más que los comentarios que hacen en esta página no coinciden con lo que vi hace dos semanas! No sé qué tipo de política podría motivar a alguien que calumnia el nombre de un orfanato de amor y un director de buen corazón? No estoy siendo manipulada por nadie, soy adulta y sé que algo es malo o bueno. mis hermanas del hogar me necesitaban y yo como su hermana mayor debo protegerlas de todo aquel que les quiera hacer daño, por tanto los ladrones fueron aquiellos que se quedaron con todo lo que les pertenciea a los niños del hogar, no hemos recibido nada de ayuda de ninguna organización extranjera y aqui estamos vivos porque al hombre que acusan de ladron, violador y enfermos es quien día tras día busca la manera de que cada niño en el hogar coma sus tres tiempos, esten bien vestidos aun sin dinero porque no cuenta con ningun dinero no cree que si hubiera robado todo ese dinero que dicen él se hubiese ido a gastarcelo a otra parte y no estar aguantando humillaciones de personas como usted. Shocking news! does anyone know where I can retrieve more news on everything that's going on with Hogar Tierra Santa ? I just saw Santiago and Sandra on television, Canal 55,... and they were being interviewed about problems that they were having but there was never any mention of sexual abuse to the kids. Would like to find out more on this matter. Thanks to all and God Bless Honduras and the U.S.A. !!

Thanks for your post, even though it is terribly sad, it is basically what I have heard from many sources. Obviously Sandra doesn't want to believe that Santiago is capable of such things. I was just interpreting for the others who were curious what she had to say. We will continue to pray that justice is served and that all the children are placed in a much safer environment. I would highly recommend against helping this hogar until the director is removed.

I believe Sandra is saying she first came to the hogat when she was 7 years old. She has not worked at the Hogar for the last 7 years as she was in Columbia going to school for the last 4-5 years. She and Christina only recently returned from Columbia. On March 1, 2011 INFHA reported there were 29 children at the Hogar.

Hogar Tierra Santa is a corrupt organization to the very core. Literally over 20 girls have come forward with accusations of abuse against the Executive Director Santiago Martinez. Unfortunately, many are beyond the statute of limitations and all have had their lives threatened by Santiago Martinez. He knows who he has abused and thus knows who he needs to threaten. Santiago Martinez has engaged in a campaign of intimidation that has allowed him up to now remain free. Anyone who knows Honduras knows that the justice system is entirely inept. The fact that he is not in jail has no bearing on the man's guilt. Not only has he sexually abused a multitude of vulnerable girls, he has also stolen thousands of dollars from Hogar Tierra Santa during his tenure. This is not a supposition, but a statement of fact that has been corroborated. Anyone who says otherwise is either untruthful, an accomplice, or has been manipulated by Santiago Martinez and his cronies. The kids that remain at Hogar Tierra Santa are being held as prisoners by Santiago Martinez. They are his livelihood and he is addicted to power and sexual abuse. Santiago Martinez loves no one other than himself. Sandra is nothing but a tool being used by Santiago Martinez. Tierra Santa Support cut funds because Santiago Martinez refused to remove himself from Hogar Tierra Santa. No responsible organization would continue to send funds to an orphanage run by a sexual predator who steals the money that should go to feeding and educating the children. Would an honest and ethical man not step away for the benefit of the children even if what he was accused of was false? Hogar Tierra Santa es una organizacion 100% corrupta. Mas que 20 muchachas han declarado que son victimas de abusos sexuales cometido por Santiago Martinez. Santiago Martinez sabe bien quien ha abusado y entonces sabe quien amenazar y ha amenazado a todas las victimas. According to the Sandra, who has worked at the Hogar for seven years, it is still open, but they don't have any support from the US. Apparently the parent organization in the US cut their support and the kids are going without their daily meals. They are continuing to struggle to stay open and although many kids had to leave, they still have 40 of them in the orphanage. Sandra also claims that the accusations against her uncle Santiago were false. *I don't know this for a fact, it is just summing up what Sandra wrote in her previous posts.

This weekend (5/23/2010) the Hogar Tierra Santa was shut down to protect the children by the Honduran Courts. The executive directr, Conception Arzu Martinez (Santiago) has been accused of sexually molesting several of the girls and the courts found the charges creditable enough to permanently shut down the hogar while extensively investigating Santiago Martinez.
