Steve, thank you for your input. About Curt Flood... You need not worry about Curt Flood's being with me. Becoming one with the rock, an act I often commit, takes one to another dimension that includes the dearly departed, regardless of their sports affiliation. Would you believe that Babe Ruth likes sandstone fins? I digress...
About home plate... You are right on this one! I think another hiker took it as a souvenir.
About terminology... The rock feature pictured above is a pour-off during heavy rain and a trickle-off as the rain subsides. (This causes headaches for map-makers!) I deliberately omitted "trickle-off" for two reasons: it would have made the title excessively wordy, and I fear it would have caused some surfers to confuse this formation with a discharging battery. I have had many complaints about such confusion; I take such concerns seriously because my mission is to educate and inform, not confuse.

Dave, I would worry about you if Curt were present. Besides, there is no home plate to steal out there.

By the way, that's a trickle-off not a pour-off. I think you have spent too much time in dry places.

My camera's flash did not flood. This stream did not flood. Curt Flood was not present.
