Judging by the way the edges are raised, I would think Albert used a hammer and a small cold chisel to do this. Shame he never put a date on it.
I have marked metal in a similar fashion, but not as grafitti.

Just thought of something. Albert's quest for immortality was made even more possible with this picture. Imagine -- his name and scrollwork is being seen all over the planet now! Shame he probably will never know!
