This is an excellent B&W image, Dave. Great tonal gradation, interesting landforms (both natural and manmade), water smooth as glass, which perfectly mirrors the mesas and the four sticks in the foreground. I like how the sticks are separated from all the rest by the large expanse of smooth water--provides "silence" for a contemplative feel, which is very hard to imagine at a mine site but your image provides it. In fact, this is my favorite of all your work; you should frame this and put it on your wall. V
I really like this one. The near-featureless sky and the busy geometric patterns are a great combination.
For one year in college I lived in a house that would have been a perfect site to mine pot ash. We joked if it ever burned down (which was almost a given) half of Ithaca would get high. I did not inhale. But they probably mine a different type of potash here.
