Route through cryptobiotic soil wasn't always on sandstone bedrock

Southeast Poison Spider Mesa (near Moab, Utah)

This dry watercourse, about one foot (30cm) deep, was part of my route from the fin back to garden
number 2. It provided any easy way to avoid stepping on the cryptobiotic soil, which was prevalent.

Crytobiotic - new one on me. I had no idea that it had to do with the well known cyanobacteria which are one of the oldest life forms. They were previously called blue green algae, remember. Thanks for the memory jogger, Dave.
