Out here---in the middle of nowhere---camping permits are just a bad dream. Just park the
car next to the road, set up camp, and relax. This is at the northeast end of the Silver
Island Range, where I was totally, utterly, and completely alone (except for Joe Tripod).
At upper right is a thumb-like protrusion on the ridge.
That formation can be seen as a two-tone tower from the northwest side of Cobb Peak.
Joe Tripod is my photographic assistant and traveling companion. He likes places
like this because they are devoid of the pressure to socialize with monopods,
clamps, beanbags, and tripods (especially those of the Carbon Fiber family).
