Dirt + rain + driving = ruts

Silver Island Backcountry Byway, Utah

One of the "pleasures" of driving on back roads such as the Byway is having to avoid ruts made
by people who could not wait for the road to dry out after a rain. These ruts are about nine
inches (23cm) deep, plenty deep enough to grab one's tires and steer the car for you.

The worst ones are the ruts perpendicular to the road. That's why I need to replace my engine mounts and lower arm bushings from last year's trek around Silver Mtns. Great pics Dave.

I remember some deep ruts that were barely passable in an SRT4.. and the images never make the ruts appear as deep as they really are. Be safe ~
