I'm heading for the shadowy cliff ahead, which marks the mouth of a canyon that tends to the right.
The sandy depression zigzagged through the undulating terrain, causing my direction to change often:
between here and the cliff are a few more turns. This series of sandy depressions was not only
good for avoiding brush (previous photo) but also kept me away from cryptobiotic soil.
