Those branches are pretty but nasty: being dead, they are stiff as a [CENSORED], and capable
of tearing any human flesh that rubs against them. Some bushes offered similar discomfort.
By staying in the sandy depressions I minimized the chance of having a "close encounter."
Cultural note: the photo's title makes fun of a phrase ("I brake for 'whatever' ") often seen
on automobile bumper stickers or window stickers. " 'whatever' " can be almost anything:
"garage sales," "tailgaters," etc. I think this derives from slogans that appear on school
buses and some commercial trucks: "This vehicle stops at all railroad crossings."
