A great mass of rock humbled by the power of water

Winter Camp Wash Amphitheater (Arches National Park)

After the psychic trip to another plane (previous photo) I took a little walk to see the
amphitheater from a different perspective. This is the high point of that walk and is almost
directly below Delicate Arch (out of view to the right). To get here from the "lunch break
bedrock," I had to walk/scramble up a slope, most of which was covered with cryptobiotic
soil. I took a different route back (next photo).

This view does not do justice to the immensity of the wall. To think that nature's
freeze-thaw cycle can pry huge pieces of this rock off of the face is amazing.
