Block signals at Black River Junction (Tukwila, Washington)

view map

This view looks north from C. P. Tukwila toward Black River Junction. The signs on the signal towers say "Black River." The two parallel tracks belong to Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway. The track at far left, curving away, is the Union Pacific Railroad; it crosses the BNSF tracks here, ending up behind the white truck at right. These are the main line tracks running from Seattle to Tacoma, Vancouver, and Portland.

The tall light towers are at the Starfire Sports Center, a soccer facility at Tukwila's Fort Dent Park. The curving track in front of the white truck is the BNSF line that goes east to the Boeing factory in Renton, where 737 airplanes are assembled. That line used to go beyond Renton to Bellevue, Woodinville, and Snohomish, but the portion beyond the Boeing plant was abandoned and is now the Eastside Rail Corridor.

Robin, you're blocking again: that train of thought will get you nowhere. Please switch to a better attitude as soon as possible or I will see red.

I think I'm tracking you here. Are you railing against all this presence, or did you just take this to tie it into your larger gallery? ;-)
